The Enlightened Prepper Second Survival Monk

This is a well-written text on being prepared mentally as well as pragmatically for some foreseeable catastrophes. It has some great links to outside sources and it tells how to best use those sources. Such as the American Red Cross Safe and Well site, NOAA weather radio hazards site, the Disaster Information Management Research Center of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services site, the Ready.gov site of FEMA, which specializes in helping businesses and families, prepare for disasters in such a way as to mitigate the damaging effects of their outcomes. This is a wonderful book. Some may or may not agree with all that is written here. That is irrelevant though to the priceless information that it contains and the ideas that it will spark in the minds of those who need to know this information. What I really enjoyed as well was the:
The 7 Survival Enlightenment Principles
1. Positive Projection, shift from panic to promoting harmony and calmness.
2. Self Reliance, promote resource independence.
3. Diminish "Isolation to Community," foster and environment community and build a network.
4. Manifest a positive thought reality; this is not a Pollyannaish rose-colored glasses type view but one of vigilance.
5. "Never give up."
6. Seek psychological balance.
7. Love life.

The Enlightened Prepper Second Survival Monk Reviews

Eh
THIS IS A GREAT BOOK!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR GREAT SURVIVAL BOOK !!! SURVIVAL MONK IS A GREAT AUTHOR.
This book takes a perspective of self empowerment along with preparation. If you're not mentally prepared then having a bunch of gear and guns may keep you alive in a teotwawki type situation, but will it be worth it if you've got nothing real to live for? It still covers physical needs, with lots of really sound advice, but I like the angle of inner peace. It's a first of its kind, highly recommended!
Good book to get if your just starting into prepping. I just wished it was a little more in depth on some of the topics. overall good read.
Although this book is interesting, it is a wee bit over the top on the paranoid trail. Some things I believe I could use, but I would not be interested in building bunkers, etc. If Armageddon is coming, I may not necessarily want to survive it if there is nothing left to the planet.
About half the book is about attitude and the will to survive, the other half is items you may need and why they are important. I'm a person who preps for having food if I'm laid off or after an earthquake, I find this book far More planning than I will ever need. However, it seems most professional in handling prepping topics. If you want to face anything life throws at you, including to finding the best gas mask, this is the most complete book that I've seen.
I collect and read prepper books. And not all are created equally. This one is a cut above the usual bunch leaning towards family survival plans rather than the more popular LMOE (Last man on earth) survival books which encourage a bunker, freeze dried foods, and a heft amount of ammunition. The author asks the reader to put away preconceptions of how the world will end (he makes the point it will not end in 2012) and what the reader's beliefs are concerning world views, those you love, your special skills, physical possessions, and what difficult event in your life taught you valuable lessons. He then goes into a dissertation on the fable of the Ant and Grasshopper. The author goes into great detail about the mindset of the two creatures. Granted it is a children's fable, but it points out the fact that the Ant is not motivated by fear or hatred...but common sense. In later chapters he relates true survival scenarios, mindsets for survival, and the need to build community. Once your head on straight the author goes into the protocols of survival concerning water, food, shelter...but always stretching common sense instead of fear. People who are gearheads may not like this book. People who are only now beginning to see the value of becoming preppers will love this book. I highly recommend this book along with Cody Lundins, When The S*** Hits the Fan as a companion book. Together they would be the books I'd carry with me if a disaster hits or society falls.
